so i saw this: https://youtube/watch?v=mrEvBiqoeRc and i wanted to read the novel, but i was wondering if the ending was tragic or happy since nicholas sparks only ends his book in those 2 ways. It turns out that it has a really tragic ending..... looks cute though, the movie and james marsden! XD ********************************************************************************************** SUMMARY OF THE STORY BELOW ********************************************************************************************** The Best of Me is about Dawson Cole, a high school senior who is abused by his family, and Amanda Collier, a girl who has lots of money. It all started when Amanda was in biology class and she had to use the restroom. As usual, Dawson is partnerless and sits by himself. When Amanda returns, everyone is already chosen so her only choice is Dawson. Eventually, they grow on each other and soon fall for each other. Since Dawson is a Cole and Amanda is a Collier, they were banned from seeing each other. As a result of this, they still continued to see each other in secrecy. After years of being together and being in love, Dawson was forced to end it with Amanda. After 20 years of being separated, they see each other at their dear friends funeral and had suddenly fallen in love again. Later on, Dawson realizes that Amanda has a family of her own while Dawsons last girlfriend was Amanda. Once Amanda figures out that Abee and Ted, both cousins of Dawson, are here to kill Dawson, she immediately becomes scared. Furthermore, when Dawson goes to the bar he runs into his cousins and notices that there is a young man who is getting beat up. Dawson makes a distraction to try and get the young man out and on his way out someone was shot.After realizing about Amandas husband, Frank, Dawson suddenly tries the best he can to get Amanda back and it works for a little bit, until her mother, Mrs. Collier, convinces her to realize that reality is a lot different than your fantasy. After Amanda and Dawson say their goodbyes, Amanda receives a call about her husband and son getting in a car accident. As Amanda rushes to the hospital she finds out that her son needs a heart transplant. After hearing that the surgery failed, she realizes that he has to get a pacemaker. When he wakes up from the surgery he is upset and cries knowing that he will only live for 20 more years. When she thought things couldnt get any worse, she finds out that Dawson died from a gunshot to the head that killed him within minutes. After realizing that she is all alone, she finally realizes her destiny.
