so... i spent a couple of hours with my Dad this morning... we started in the garden... as he H2O ed the garden... he had me pick the tomatoes... the perfectionist in him let me know i had picked a few a little prematurely... : /... he has ALWAYS been a little hard to please (which always made me work very hard to try to do so)... then we sat on the porch as he fed the birds, the squirrels, and the rabbits... i will always treasure the sound of this rough, tough farmer as he reassuringly convinces the little animals that everything is fine... his voice is so calming and gentle as he speaks to them... then... we went inside where we had coffee... and... he wanted to hear every detail of my trip to Colorado... he even produced a map so i could show him the routes i took... he has been just about everywhere so I think he likes to relive it... he asked about Kalon... he even offered a little advice (which i sent in a text to Justen)... as i prepared to leave he gave me a generous donation to help Kalon... and... as i stepped out on his porch to leave... he offered me a huge pumpkin he had grown (my favorite fairy tale involves pumpkins)... but... i wanted him to keep the two largest ones... i chose a smaller one (not sure how my Fairy Godmother will feel about me choosing the smaller one)... anyway... hope your morning was as grand as mine... you see... when i am with my Dad every little thing feels special...
