: so im at the mall waiting to play the new fifa 15 game. these two guys finish playing their game, look at me waiting & then continue to start another game. a little irritated, i decide to stick around & wait anyway. they finish the next game with a close score of 1-0 & one of the guys hands me the controller. i take a seat, pick my team & get ready. the game starts & by half time, i am up 3-0. one of the employees at the microsoft store walks up to the screen & asks whos winning. the guy i am playing against nods his head towards me & the employee says, woah, no way! - shocked that a girl could actually be winning. i reply with, hey, girls can play too. you shouldnt underestimate us. he didnt have much of a response to that. the game continues & a man walks by. he sees the score & says, that guy better be the one up by 3. had he not continued walking by, i wouldve had a response for him too. i know that i wont have the opportunity to show every single person in the world that girls are just as capable as boys, but i will never shy away from any chance i do get. & as with anything, you have to start somewhere. this perception that we, as girls, are at a disadvantage & that we cant be as good at things as boys has no solid foundation. but hey, i love when people underestimate me - it fuels this spark inside of me & allows me to prove them wrong. so keep underestimating, fellas. the ladies will just have to keep showin you whats up & whats not. p.s. i am happy to say that i know that not all guys are like this. this is more of an open-ended thought after my experience today & similar ones i have had recently.
