so... im watching star trek. i doesnt matter the episode. ok -- it was the inner light. lots of talking (of course, its about picard. all he does is TALK). anyway, i started getting bored -- REALLY bored. maybe like you are reading this post. anyhoo (like that, eh?) i started thinking about why i like a show like the walking dead, a soap opera masquerading as a horror series and why im so bored watching star trek. dont get me wrong. i love star trek. the wookies are my favorite characters. see what i did there? SO -- i thought, well, heres the thing: the characters on star trek are never in any real danger. theres never any real chance of anyone dying. or even getting seriously injured. sure, theyre put in peril, but does anyone doubt that picard will live to yap through ANOTHER episode? the people on the stay off the grass planet wanted to kill wesley (who doesnt?) but they didnt. we knew they werent going to. but rick grimes straight up shot a little girl in the head the very first episode of the waling dead. straight up BOOM. unlike star trek, the characters on the walking dead actually run a risk of dying -- that makes the show EXCITING and in a way more realistic than kirks nick of time escapes or riker stroking his beard. chekov fell three stories and was restored to full health. the governor got his eye poked out and the mofo STAYED OUT. anyway... im devoting too much time to things i shouldnt think so hard about. this is what i do instead of thinking about ISIS, folks. .
