so its RUOK day, and I have to say that I personally am very OK!!! If youve ever spent any time with me, youll know i am a very happy and energetic person. Here are my top tips to be happy!!! 1. Remember that you live in a country where there is no food crisis, we have ample water, education, healthcare and an outstanding average salary. 2.Clear any debts that you have. They say money cant bring you happiness, but rest assured, debt can bring you distress! There are almost no reasons to spend more money than you earn. 3. If you have spare money, BOOK a holiday. Nothing puts me in a better mood than travel! It is very commonly said that possessions will not make you happier, but spending money on EXPERIENCES does. A $500 dress or shirt, and you wont remember it in a year. Spend $500 on a holiday or concert ticket....youll remember it for years and it will continue to bring a smile to your face and heart. 4. Eat well, lots of plants, and exercise 4-5 days a week. Not only is eating well conducive to a lower risk of depression, but youll look better too. 5. Have at least one friend that you text back and forth each day. 6. Have at least one hour a day without any screen use. 7. SLEEP well. (This is extremely important). Dark, silent room for 8 hours. 8. Call and visit a family member once or twice a week. 9. Study something. Anything. It gives you a sense of purpose. We have an extremely accessible education system where no Australian needs to pay their fees upfront, its all deferred, so enroll in a course you love and do it, even if its only one subject a semester! 10. When youre upset about something, think about something that makes you happy. Seriously, do it. Wether its disneyland or tom daley naked, thinking about something positive and physically forcing yourself to smile will make you feel alot better. If all else fails, watch a comedy- laughing will definitely elevate your mood.
