so listening to right now. just me, my ears and opinion. doesnt sound like it was recorded in a fing garage. the drums is obviously the most immediate improvement. they also upped the tempo on st anger just a tad which helps tremendously. looks like the guitarist is playing his ibamez through a line 6 amp which has a marshall mod setting on it (hence why it sounds so heavy and crunchy and the clean is nice, lools like a marshall distortion pedal too. I have only 1 complaint. the singer sticks out. not because of the difference in sound between him & james, but because the undertone effects to the vocals arent quite loud enough and it wasnt leveled quite right . the scream by the producer was well timed. but overall a much much needed improvement which lars & james may like or not, theyre metallica and out whatever they want out and the true fans will like it or not. 12 years later and this is listenable too. now to find a mp3 download and to see if (Grace the Skies) have anything original out.
