so we fly to denver, drive to avon and judy says i want to see my boy.. i say he is working loading people on one of the chair lifts at beaver creek and theres 15 of em and we dont know which one hes at. she said i want to see my boy.. i knew i was doomed. so we get to the ski area, ask one of the guys and he knows lucas and says hes at the bottom of lift 2 and we can get there by riding the gondola up at lift 3, walk past the bunny slope, past chair lift 1 and down the intermediate hill and thats where hell be. judy says fine..lets go.. by the way, we dont have skis, snow boots or underalls. i think to myself i will never see my guitars again. we ride up, get off and lucas comes walking up shaking his head saying youre gonna get me fired. but there it was: a beautiful mother and son reunion..on the side of a mountain in the middle of a hundred 4 and 5 year old kids falling down all around us. i said how did you know we were here? he said his buddy called and said some woman who said she was my mother and who had this look in her eyes of a mama lion looking for her lost cub and was not gonna be denied was coming up the mountain so look out for her and some old dude with a permanent frown following behind her. it was great to see him, hes working hard and doing good. lucas got a mandolin, i got a guitar strap, judy got to see her boy. was a damn fine christmas. stay tuned for some more reports from the wore out.. yours truly, rwh i cant tell you how we got down less some might get in trouble.
