some Americans are going to miss Thanksgiving, by their own choice…Some people have camped out on cold sidewalks for more than a week, hoping to be first to grab Black Friday deals. retailers have been pushing Black Friday earlier and earlier, so some stores now plan to open before the Thanksgiving games are even to half-time. The m new term for this: “Brown Thursday.” It’s popping up everywhere, even though it makes no sense. “Brown Thursday” is when retailers hope to come out of the red and into the black for the year. There is no brown on accounting books, unless you’re up all night doing taxes and spill coffee on them. Late night comic Jimmy Kimmel has launched a campaign to reject the term “Brown Thursday.” He says the day before Black Friday already has a name: “Thanksgiving.” I endorse this campaign wholeheartedly. If you want a brown Thursday, have seconds on the gravy and stay home with your family.
