some of you may be wondering where the term Black Friday comes from. Well let me tell you that is has nothing to do with slavery. The term was not used till about a century after slavery. So in my research I found two believable potentials. One being that in accounting RED ink represents negative and BLACK ink positive. Being that its the beginning of the holidays and most businesses at the time staied in the red. The Friday after thanks giving put them (businesses) out of the red and into the black. Another story is that ppl would call in sick Friday to shop and have a 4 day weekend (before Friday was a paid day off). Hence Black Friday. I find the first to be a bit more along the path. What do you think?
