sooooo, last year the S.F. Bay area and surrounding counties - TopicsExpress

sooooo, last year the S.F. Bay area and surrounding counties decided that we consumers need to bring our own grocery bags when we shopped. Any store that has any type of food to sell had to charge you 10 cents for each bag you required to bag your purchases, (yes even the 7/11 could charge you....amazing isnt it?) This law made us bring our own bags, Well our good friend Henry who owns a large air conditioning business gave me 4 very nice canvas bags he gives out to his customers for carrying tools. Then my daughter bought me another and over the months I had several. THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS PAYING 10 cents a bag for the crappy plastic ones. (actually I get enough of these from a lousy neighbor who thinks they are a cheap alternative for kites and her kids stand in front of my home and let the wind fill them to sail into our yard....but thats another story. Mom has been a frequent visitor since I retired and one day I took her shopping and in our hurry I forgot the bags, When we checked out, she was completely baffled when I started loading everything into the cart by myself, no bags. I finally explained the new local law and she was actually OK with this and jumped right on board. Soon after every visit I found bags, senior casino bags, bags from her crochet group, you name it. I had quite a good supply of shopping bags and she fell in with my habit of putting a few bags into one and hanging on a hook behind my door. Imagine my surprise today when I pulled a set of bags she put together. (My original ones were in the wash.) She had one of my originals and inside was a couple of plastic ones from a hardware store BUT the clincher was the stuff bag from my sons Arctic sleeping bag. Seems she was cold one night and added the sleeping bag to her bed and thought the stuff bag was a very nice bag for extra groceries. It was fun watching folks watch me pack up my french breads and coffee packs in this humongous sleeping stuff bag. My mom keeps me on my toes and as I grow older I find its all fun and contentment. She has been one of my biggest supporters. I hope mom and I send you smiles as I share our stories, I wish for you the same contentment I have been enjoying and hope that each of you feel loved, feel secure and blessed. Happy New Year my friends, may you be as blessed as I feel. hugs B
