soundspositive/advanced I shared at my last network meeting in Henley that a married couple, who arrived in separate cars, came to share an “Advanced Thinking and Emotionally Intelligent Communication” session with me He wants a divorce. She’s devastated. They both care about their young 3 children, all aged under 8. After working together carefully through a particularly difficult issue, which had previously triggered much heart-ache and resentment, they both said that for the first time in their relationship, they really felt heard. They also said that they understood their partner better – and certainly on this particular issue. They were able to go on to agree a compromise, which meant that each was fulfilling their own need as well as providing for the need of their partner. It breaks my heart that we hurt ourselves and each other – all for the want of some understanding and some simple tools – and admittedly – a lot of practice. I don’t know what will happen to these two. But I do know that they’re much better off with some Emotional Intelligence. Please don’t let what’s happened to them, happen to you or to those you love. I was very impressed at the way that Lysette had broken the technique down into simple steps that were both accessible and memorable. I left the workshop with a new way of communicating that I felt I could put into practice immediately. I felt it would enable me and my family to treat each other with respect and would meet all our needs using this new found skill. I cannot recommend this workshop highly enough! Sue Ing-Simmons
