spent most of the day in Harrison Park Owens Sound ~ where we participated in a Black history celebration that has been going on every year for 150 years ... Owens Sound is the northernmost destination of the underground railroad ... was wonderful to be at such an event! could not have been a more beautiful day! enjoy this little clip from one of the singers at the Cairn ... the Carin is different from the traditional pillar - type carin, it is designed as a right angle structure, a cornerstone , that reflects both homestead and church strengths .. the mood of the carin is one of reflection, a reverent celebration for the African descendants that traveled the underground railroad making it to Owens Sound Ontario.
