spent the day researching Malaria and its symptoms for my novel. Here are some fun facts I learned: only female mosquitoes drink blood, the males live off sugar and nectar. There are 450 species of mosquito, but not all of them transmit the parasite Plasmodium that causes Malaria. Malaria does not occur in North America or Western Europe. Malaria is an ancient disease, yet over a million people die from the parasite every year.
