submitted by Dusan Bojic EIKONOKLASMOS Dusan Bojic writes: According to the Oxford English Dictionary, liminal (adj.), in its rare usage, is: Of or pertaining to the threshold or initial stage of a process. A more specific definition of liminal as it pertains to psychology states: Of or pertaining to a limen [in Latin] or threshold. These two definitions recognize the threshold, being the beginning of a state or action, outset, opening, as somewhat synonymous with the liminal state. The transmuted icons presented in Eikonoklasmos are rendered as submerged within an abstract space, a TimeSpace. This alludes both to the womb and to the sea. The plasma or gel of the abstract space that the bodies are submerged into, immersed in, has an openness to it, a potential4 for being molded, recreated into further elements. These abstract or formless elements within each TimeSpace have the potential to be morphed, changed, distorted, altered. This is similar to the elements which comprise our reality as sentient beings: both fixed and malleable substances, elements, pieces, tools, forms, colors... ultimately forming a type of iconoclastic plasma.
