sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. the victims should be treated with compassion synonyms: pity, sympathy, empathy, fellow feeling, care, concern, solicitude, sensitivity, warmth, love, tenderness, mercy, leniency, tolerance, kindness, humanity, charity have you no compassion for a fellow human being? ppl think compassion n nice behavior are the same. to possess compassion, one can b but doesnt need to be polite. polite is a social tool- its nice- keeps order, but often false. how many times a day do ppl ask how r u without listening to or caring about the answer? many! to b compassionate, u need not even b visible or present... just willing. compassion is deeper than nice, deeper than temporary feelings. compassion is flexible but unbreakable, it changes faces depending on the situation. compassion is about moving beyond trying to fix things, its about being there and being strong no matter what- willing to offer unconditional love. its about accepting and only helping when help is desired. compassion is giving energy beyond expectation without regard to outcome. sometimes the compassionate thing to do is not seen as nice...rather its necessary or for the good of all involved. dont mistake compassion for niceties. the compassionate being isnt concerned with ur current behavior or current emotional reaction- they r concerned with ur overall well being because they know that we r connected. they know that when u thrive, all thrives. lets be more compassionate- care for others as we would our own...
