t late kana natutuA VERY SPECIAL NIGHT Somewhere inside the rigid jungles of Sorsogon. We established a strong and upper hand high ground position to blocked and assault the incoming New Peoples Army Rebels resistance who were expected to crossed our perimeter, We waited for almost 8 hours wet and tired in the pitch dark jungle waiting for any Enemys movement in the front. We disregard the hunger, fatigue, and tension while waiting for the Rebels. At exactly our zero hour as expected the Rebels arrived we saw 5 teen rebels at about 14-17 years old teenagers approaching our position as I hand signaled an ordered my Rangers to stay put and wait for my signal to engaged and fire at will to the enemies. We heard a single NPA Rebel whistling a familiar tune and as they came closer to us as we are about to engaged them at bout 2-3 meters away the tune became familiar because its the tune of the song JINGLE BELLS!. All of my Rangers looked at their watches and realized that the very hour was exactly the Christmas Day. We were all surprised that we were all in that jungle at that very hour and sadly we just realized that the Rebels just passed us that night. As we were headed home one of my Ranger asked me why I hesitated to give the order. I just smiled and until now my answer that night was still remembered by my men to this day. I told them that: ALAM NYO KAHIT NGAYON LANG, KASI HINDI NAMAN ARAW-PASKO, Its not about the number of the casualties in both sides that matters that night. Its all about the number of lives that was saved that night by the very special night we called CHRISTMAS! MAY I BE THE 1ST TO GREET YOU ALL MERRY XMAS TO ALL!
