[tbs 정오뉴스] ▶(Report) Government Audit To Focus On NIS Scandal The national spy agencys alleged meddling into last year’s presidential election is emerging as a hot issue today, with new allegations being made by the main opposition party and the prosecution. The Democratic Party claimed yesterday that some NIS agents posted about 55,000 Twitter messages during the preliminary stages of the presidential race and the tweet campaign continued during the full campaign period. Furthermore, Yun Seok-yeol, a senior prosecutor who was leading a probe into the alleged tweets by the NIS, was ousted from the special probe team last week for arresting three NIS agents without approval from the Justice Ministry. Several DP lawmakers have also criticized Yoon and said he kept silent about the twitter messages during the investigation. His dismissal has sparked a backlash from the DP, which claims that the government attempted to meddle in the probe. Meanwhile, the defense ministry plans to start a full-fledged investigation into its special cyber unit as several members admitted to posting negative comments online against the opposition presidential candidate last year. Finally, on the topic of the four-rivers restoration project, it was brought up by the environment and labor committee at the audit that after the launch of the project, a total of 28 endangered species including reptiles and mammals have disappeared.
