tbt# Greg here, hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and jumping into 2015 with a fervor! This weeks Throwback Thursday takes us back to 1993. In 1993, we had the extreme honor of working with the late great Johnnie Johnson on a collaborative CD, Thatll Work! This video clip is from the writing sessions that preceded the recording sessions, here you see us working on Im Not Running Anymore. Besides the great Piano work by Johnnie and vocals of Mark Orr, theres some great interplay between the Guitars, Bass, and Drums. I think all the guys would agree, doing Thatll Work! has been a career highlight. Johnnie pulled things out of us, he made us groove and play like men. Once we got into The Practice House with Johnnie, it was like we were meant to play this music. As Richard stated in a earlier post, we have another CD coming with Johnnie this year, tracks that were recorded before he passed in 2005. Im very proud of the project, great songs and and playing by everyone throughout. We cant wait till you folks hear it! And if youre not hip to Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Johnnie Johnson, hes one of the unsung heroes of rock and roll. He has been called “the founding father of rock and roll.” Go back and listen to the classic Chuck Berry Chess sides, hes all over them, Johnny B. Goode was written in his honor.
