tdays STATUS QUOte !! Today is a most tragic holiday. It is the day we memorialize children who died trying to protect a myth they were taught to believe was true, at the hands of the other children they were trying to kill, who believed a similar myth they also were taught to believe was true. Most tragic. These children should not have died. We honor them for their altruism. Though they by no means granted us the freedom we all are born with as members of the animal kingdom, they were taught to believe thats exactly what they were doing, and that ultimate tragedy is worth commemorating. Most of them were mowed down in their prime by strangers. That is deplorable. More deplorable are the people who sent them to their deaths in our names. Today, we thank them for this, and we send our gratitude and sympathy to their families and friends, who should not have lost these children.
