Neighbors in West Chester, Ohio, say the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has advised at least six families to leave their homes temporarily. Ron Fuller says he has been sick from the smell and so has his family. Essentially youre seeing a big company run over a lot of little people, said Fuller. Enoughis enough, he added. Tipka Energy owns the wells causing the alleged problem. A spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said the problem appears to be a leaky gas line from 30-year old conventional wells. Clyde Fuller, who also lives near one of the wells, said he and his wife have been sick. We have been sick, along with others in a 3-mileradius, and they are in the process of closing five poisonous gas wells, said Fuller. Theres been a lot of sickness and people in the hospital. Fuller said his dog has been sick and its been a problem for years. Tuesday evening ODNR contacted residents to go elsewhere for a few days until the problem was resolved. They called us Tuesday evening and said theyd advise us to leave for three days, said Martha Brindley. Brindley said her son was sick and he suffers from asthma. The Brindleys had been staying in a hotel until Friday. Were going home, but the smell is still there, said Brindley. According to Brindley, Tipka has agreed to reimburse her family for hotel and meals. Neighbors said the smell has been dissipated with salt water dousings, but always returns. Friday, Tipka Energy, the company that owns the wells, was working at a site. Its been leaking out of the well for years. Ittakes your breath away, said Ron Fuller. NEWS9 contacted Tipka Energy, but they had no response on Friday. Read More at: wtov9/news/features/top-stories/stories/families-claim-sickened-gas-leak-2196.shtml?wap=0#.UoFFNqq9Kc0
