that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:5) The gospel is the “nearly too good to be true” news! That what the original Greek word means that is translated Gospel. The idea that Christ has done everything that needed to be done for us to be perfectly right with God forever is contrary to the wisdom of man. Everything in our flesh and everything in this world screams against the gospel message. Everyday we are bombarded with thoughts of “you’re not good enough” or “God’s not pleased with you.” But these thoughts are according to the wisdom of man and not according to the Gospel. The wisdom of man is “do good, get good” or “do bad, get bad.” This is the message of the world and humanism and our flesh. But God’s ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. He simply justifies the ungodly. He simply rescues the drowning. He simply lifts up, dusts off and sets upright the fallen and the guilty and the condemned. He says “you haven’t gone too far”, “you haven’t done too much”, “nothing you do can separate you from my love.” Choose to believe the good news today. That Jesus has truly done it all and you are forever right with God because of what He has done. You are justified. You are cleansed. You are washed. There are no more sins and there is no more guilt and condemnation for you! It’s gone forever! Believe it!
