the David Mackay/Timothy Stone review was produced at the request of DECC, to rebut research which cast doubt on the “low carbon” claims of unconventional gas. I could outline many criticisms of the report, but there is one central point which I believe that the Committee should address. 38. Mackay and Stone calculate the climate impacts of shale gas, and use this calculation to justify the findings of their report. They suggest that shale gas could produce less emissions than current North Sea gas production. In my view, Mackay and Stone used dated sources of statistical information to create that result. so it is clear that the government want to use old reports ...nothing is beyond them but this is bigger than a volcano errupting !!!!!!
