? & the Mysterians Stormy Monday The Midnight Hour They call it stormy Monday... Hello everyone! I will be starting and running a new segment on my page for the love of music, Its called Song of the Week! Im hoping to not explain it as the title should be pretty self explanatory. I will usually try to go for themes and what not given the day, song, and artist. As an example I should have written this on Sunday to post on Monday. Now I know what youre thinking, Question Mark and the Mysterians? What kind of a name is that? EXACTLY! I dont get it either! but I like it. Apparently, common folk lore suggests that this particular band took its name from an old 1950s science fiction film called The Mysterians. I dont know about you, but that sounds about right. Now...the show must go on! Ahh stormy, stormy Monday. A nice and slow twelve bar blues tune that soothes the heart and makes night driving so much better. Every time I hear that oh so memorable guitar intro I melt right into my seat. As simple as the bass tune is, it could easily stand tall along with the lead guitar(that is until the lead solo, but well get back to that soon.) You can tell that our front man Mr. Question Mark wrote this song from the heart, and not only did he mean for it to be so well bluesy but he SUCCEEDED. I mean, my god, you can TELL from this song that this guy probably had some mediocre to decent Sunday night, woke up Monday morning and just felt like shit. I mean like down under, rock bottom...just Bleh. On top of all that he pulled open his curtains that morning and low and behold, it was one stormy Monday...To summarize it all up, this song just OOZES the BLUESES. I dont know if anyone out there listens to the blues but like it or not we can all relate to such a song. As universal as the language of music is, everyone and I mean EVERYONE has had the blues at least once and therefore its something we can all relate to as people. So next time you hear an old blues song come on the radio or whatnot at least, AT LEAST PEOPLE, listen for ten seconds and acknowledge the blues in the song. Sort of nod an appreciation to the song for all those out there who have the blues stamped on their forehead. Ahh yes, now how about some slice of that lead solo huh? I like to think of it as the deep blue cherry on top. It leaves it bluesy scent all over you and just when you think youre free of its spell, it grabs a hold of you tight and reals you back into the center of its bluesy goodness. WHOA! is what I thought too. I mean, here I sit with this song on repeat and I cannot for the life of me describe this solo in words. It speaks to the heart, from the heart and thats it. I hope to anyone who reads these that you AT LEAST listened to the song I posted with this, you may very well actually like it comrades. I will be back next week with another song for all you music freaks out there, below are posted the lyrics. Goodnight everybody. STOP ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ They call it stormy Monday, but Tuesdays just as bad They call it stormy Monday, but Tuesdays just as bad Wednesdays worse, right on to Thursday, both so sad, yeah You know the eagle flies on Friday, Saturday I go out to play babe, yeah Please know, the eagle flies on Friday Saturday, Saturday I go out to play Sunday I go to church, and I kneel right down and start to pray And this is what I tell em now, look her
