the bruins due to already having eliminated 11 eastern conference teams have guaranteed they can finish no lower then 5th. but now its time to work on home ice advantage. due to the fact that none of the teams in the wild card race can catch them the bruins have guaranteed if they manage to stay in first place they would get home ice advantage in round 1 vs the wild card team. however tonight against montreal the bruins can guarantee themselves home ice advantage no matter what seed they take in round 1. a bruins win regardless of whether its in regulation or overtime would eliminate montreal as a threat meaning all the bruins would need to do is eliminate the lightning as a threat to guarantee home ice advantage in round 2 of the playoffs which the bruins are only 5 points away from doing so. then it would be eliminating the flyers and the penguins to guarantee home ice advantage in the eastern conference finals they are 5 points away from eliminating the flyers and 17 points away from eliminating the penguins
