the holy spirit inspired john to continue the picture of our royal priesthood .as john began writing the book of revelation he broke into a doxology ,declaring that in cleansing us with his blood ,our lord jesus has made us kings and priests john was a prisoner ,but that was only from the human viewpoint .in god,s eyes he belonged to a royal priesthood .some of the churches to whom he wrote were experiencing persecution , but they were god ,s priests and kings regardless of what people did to them .
