the inaugural North Star Peace Walk in the Capital District An interfaith Peace Walk will stop at First Lutheran. Would you like to come out for the stop at First and/or join in the walk? Pastor Allie will be walking with a First Lutheran banner, and would welcome others to join her. We will walk, pray and learn as we go from and to places of worship Sponsored by The Interfaith Alliance of NYS Capital Region Chapter & Fellowship of Reconciliation Sunday, September 15th at 2:00 P.M. Walk begins at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY. The purpose of the walk is to: • use the positive energy in this country among religious and secular groups to transform our communities, • allow people to provide witness to reaffirming the common roots of our different religious traditions, • discuss our preconceptions and misconceptions and truths, and • achieve peace with justice. Cities across the county have held Peace Walks for decades. Philadelphia’s recently celebrated its 10th annual peace walk, which included stops for prayers, teachings, singing and fellowship at a mosque, synagogue, church and Independence Mall. Walking from/to the other groups’ house of prayer and affirming spiritual values became a primary intention and source of enlightenment. The Interfaith Alliance would like to bring such enlightenment to our area. If you plan to walk with Pr Allie or greet the delegation at First, sign up on bulletin board across from Pastor Allie’s office or by calling church office 463-1326
