the kind of community I live in: last night at about 8 an email came in from the police department informing the folks in the surrounding area that an 8 year old boy was missing, a highly functioning autistic kid that lives 2 houses down from me...the email asked the nearby residents to check their properties and back yards , since the kid is known to wander off and hide somewhere) and come out to help search, my little street was filled with volunteer cars, fire truck, ems and 4 cop and sheriff vehicles and just about all the surrounding neighbors....the child was found little over an hour later, un harmed, my neighbor dues son found him...yeeeh... no swat team, no breaking into peoples properties, just a bunch of concerned folks coming together to help...I didnt know about it until the search was over, but, still...thats how its done....
