She embraced Islam and was married to her cousin Abu-As-bin-Rabi. Her husband also embraced Islam later and joined her in Medina. She had a son Ali, and a daughter (Amamah). Ali died during the life time of the Prophet (sallaho alaihi wasallam). This same Ali was the person who sat with the Prophet (sallaho alaihi wasallam) on th ecamels back at the time if his triumphant entry into Mecca. Ammah, Zainabs daughter lived long after the death of the Prophet (sallaho alaihi wasallam). Ali (radhiallaho anho) marriad her in the death of Fatima (radhiallaho anha) his first wife. It is said that fatimah at time of her death had expressed a desire for this union. She had no issue from Ali (radhiallaho anho). After Ali she was again married to Mughirah-bin-Nauful from whom she probably got one son name Yahya. She died in 50 A.H. RUQAYYA radiallaho anha She was born three years after the birth of zainab (radhiallaho naha) when the Prophet (sallaho alaihi wasallam) was 33. she was married to Utboh son of Abo Lahab, the Prophets (sallaho alaihi wasallam) uncle but had not yet started living with him when Soorah Al-Lahab was revealed. Abu Lahab called his sons Utbah and Utaiban (to the latter Umm Kulsum, another daughter of the Prophet (sallaho alaihi wasallam) was married, and said to them: Unless you both divorce the daughters of Muhammad, I am not going to see your faces. They divorced their wives. Later upon that fall of Mecca utbah embraced Islam. Ruqayyah (radhiallaho anha) after this divorce was married to Usman (radhiallaho anho). The couple emigrated to Abyssinia. Since the Prophet (sallaho alaihi wasallam) had announced to Sahabah that he was expecting to receive Allahs cammand for emigration to Medina any time, they started shifting to Medina even before the Prophets Hijrat. Usman and Ruqayyah had also emigrated to Medina before the Prophet arrived in the town. At the time of Badr Ruqayyah was sick (she died subsequently this sickness) Usman was, to stay in Medina and look after her. The news about the victory in Badr reached Medina when people were returning from Ruqayyahs funeral. The Prophet (sallaho alaihi wasallam) was therefore not present at her burial. A son was born to Ruqahhay in Abyssinia. He was named Abdullah and lived after his mother but died in 4 A.H. when he was six years old. julie: Umm Kulthum bint Muhammad Her first husband was Utaybah bin Abu Lahab and her second was Uthman ibn Affan. Her other sisters were Ruqayah bint Muhammad, Zainab bint Muhammad and Fatima bint Muhammad. She died either in 9 AH (630 AD) or around the time of the battle of Badr (624 AD). FATIMAH radhiallaho anha Fatimah (radhiallaho anha) the forth and the youngest daughter of the Prophet (sallallho alaihi wasallam) and he head of the ladies in Paradise. was born in the Ist year of the mission when he was 41. It is said that the name Fatimah (lit: safe from fire) was revealed by Allah. She was married to ALi (radhiallaho anho) in 2 A.H. and she began to live with him seven and half months later. She was about fifteen and Ali about 21 at the time of their union. Of all the daughter she was the most beloved of the Prophet (sallallho alaihi wasallam). Whenever he went out on a journey she was the last one to part with and when he returned home she was the first one to meet. When Ali (radhiallaho anho) intended to marry Abu Jahals daughter she was very much grieved and expressed her grief to the Prophet (sallallho alaihi wasallam) said to Ali: Fatimah is a part of my body. Who grieves her grieves me. Ali gave up the idea of the second marriage during her life time. After her death he married her niece Amamah (radhiallaho anha) as we have already seen in the Previous pages. It was about six month after the death of the Prophet (sallallaho alahi wasallam) when Fatimah fell ill. One day she said to her maid: I like to bath. Arrange some water for me. She took bath and changed her clothes. She then desired her bad to be placed in the middle of the room. She laid herself down on the bedding with her face towards Qiblah and her her right hand under her right check and said: I am now going to die. Next moment she was no more. The prophets family continued and shall remain so through her children. She had three sons and three daughters. Hasan (radhiallahao anho) and Hussain (radhiallaho anho) were born in the second and the third year after the marriage respectively. Muhassan (radhiallaho anho) the third son was born 4 A.H. but died in childhood. Ruqayyah, her first daughter, died in infancy and has, therefore, not been mentioned much in history. Her second daughter Ummu Kulsum was first married to Umar (radhiallaho anho) begetting one son Zaid and one daughter Ruqayyah. On Umars death Ummu Kulsum was marriad to Aun-bin-Jafar but had no issue for him. After his death his brother Muhammad-bin-Jafar married her . A daughter was born them died in childhood. Even Muhammad died in her life time and she was again married to the third brother Abdullah-bin-Jafar from whom she had no issue. She died as Abdullahs wife. Her son Zaid also died the same day and both were carried for burial in the same procession. Abdullah, Aun and Muhammad have already been mentioned as sons of Jafar (radhiallaho anho) and nephews of Ali (radhiallaho anho) Zainab, Fatimahs third daughter was married to Abdullah-bin-Jafar and had two sons Abdullah and Aun from him. It was after her death tha the married her sister Ummu Kulsum. Ali had many other childern form his wives after faitmah. He is said to have as many as thirty-two issues. Hasan and fifteen sons and eight daughter while Husain was the father of six sons and three daughters. Fatimahs Tasbih Ali (radhiallaho anho) once said to in of his pupils: Shall I tell you the story of Fatimah (rahdiallaho anha) the dearest and the most loved daughter of the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam) When the pupil replied in the affirmative he said: fatimah (radhiallaho anha) used to grind the grain herself which caused corns on her hands. She carried water for the house in a leather bag which caused scars on her breast. She cleaned the house herself which made her clothes dirty. Once some war-captives were brought to Medina. I said to her, Go to the Prophet and request him for an assistant to help you in your home work. She went to him but found many people round him. As she was very modest, she could not be bold enough to request the Prophet ( sallallaho alaihi wasallam) in the presence of the other people. Next day the Prophet come to our house and said, Fatimah ! What made you come to me yesterday? She felt shy and kept quiet. I said, O , Prophet of Allah ! Fatimah has developed corn scars on her hands and breast on account of grinding and carrying water. She is constantly busy in cleaning the house and in other domestic jobs, causing her clothes to remain dirty. I informed her about the captives and advised her to go to you and request for a servant. The Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam) said, Fatimah ! Fear Allah. Acquire Taqwa and keep doing your service to Allah and attending to your domestic jobs. When you go to bad recite Subhanallah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, and Allahoakbar 34 times. This you will find, more helpful than an assistant. Fatimah (radihallaho anha) remarked , I am content with Allah and His Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam)., In this Hadith the prescribed Zikar is before sleep. In other Hadiths the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam0 is reported to have advised Fatimah to recite after every salat (prayer) Subhanallah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, Allahoakbar 33 times and once time only Lailaha-illallaho-wahdahu-lahulmulku-walahulhamdu wahuwa-ala-kulli-shai-in-Qadir, PROPHETS SONS The Prophet (sallallaho alahi wasallm) hed three sons and four daughters. Qasim was first son born to him before the mission. He died when he was two. Abdullah, the second son, was born after the mission. He was, hence, called Tayyab and Thair. He also died in the childhood. At the time of his death the Quraish rejoiced and said: Muhammad is without a son and will therefore ne without posterity. His name will also die out with his death. It was on this occasion that Sorrah Al-Kauther was revealed by Allah. It said: Lo! We have given thee Abundance; So pray unto they Lord, and sacrifice. Lo! It is thy insulter (and not thou) who is without posterity. (Al- Kauther 1-3) Even after more than thirteen hundred years there are millions who are proud to be connected to him in love and devotion. Ibrahim, the third son and last child was born in Medina in 8 A.H. His woman slave Mariah begot this for him. The Prophet (sallallaho alahi wasallam) performed the Aqiqah ceremony on the seventh day of his birth. Two lambs were slaughtered, the childs head was shaved by Abuhind Bayzi (radhiallaho anha ), silver equal on weight to this hair was spent in charity and the hair was buried. The Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam)said: I am keeping the name of my child after the name of my forefather Ibrahim (alai-his-Salam). This son also died in 10th of Rabi-ul-Awwal 10 A.H. when he was only 18 months old. The Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasalla,m) on his death remarked: Allah has appointed a heavenly nurse to tend to Ibrahim in gardens of Paradise.
