the purge: anarchy: finally watched this;..genius movie, the sort of film you watch, and then immediately watch again, (without it being, either, one of those cheap twist ending that changes it all tricks either); but rather that layers are gradually revealed, which make everything in the first act, or layer, take on a heightened significance that perhaps only seemed tedious upon first viewing. With graduating set-pieces, and a defined time and setting/ circumstance; this has the feel of a combination of the mist and the hostel films (and just as with them, its a universe only realized in the second film, making the first, not even worth watching), and some dystopian social commentary semi-sci-fi (just thought now of the movie dredd; another masterpiece, btw, written by alex garland, (novelist and frequent collaborator with danny boyle (sunlight; the beach))). Do yourselves the favor and watch this one, against your better judgments (as i went against my own).
