She thought that on White Ribbon Day (the day that highlights domestic violence against women) she would get all the Liberal and National party members to sign a document condemning men who commit acts of violence against women. It was thought such an event would be a great symbolic act and a certain winner on the PR front. That is, until one Liberal Member very sheepishly informed their colleagues that they had actually had a violence restraining order taken out against them – so in the blink of an eye the concept went out the window never to see the light of day. And perhaps the saddest fact is, this honest MP isn’t the only one on the Hill with a tendency to take a hands on approach to their personal relationships."
