Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,” Philippians 2:2-3 NIV The two biggest problems in marriage, communication and finances, are taken care of in these verses. Wealth will never make for a deep relationship without communication and the lack of finances places a lot of stress on marriage but that can be overcome with good communication. The keys to happy and healthy relationships are being like-minded (agreed together, cherishing the same views, for the Christian the glory of God ultimately), the same love (agape love of God that is unconditional), one in spirit (compound word meaning together with and soul literally a soul mate), one mind (to have understanding, be harmonious), selfish ambition and vain conceit both come from empty pride and the anecdote for pride is giving which we do when we value others above ourselves. That is not being a doormat for that is false pride but surrendering our rights as Jesus did for God’s glory which is always for our good if not in this life than in eternity.
