there is a lot of dystopian science fiction, I am actually trying to write some, out there. what bothers me is that the people who hang onto some semblance of technology are usually written as some type of barbarians, usually doing something unethical medically. the dystopian setting makes sense as a precursor for a lot of stories as it helps explains why solutions that would normally be available to society right now are not. this emphasis of people with technology as bad seems to be either a strain of ludditism, or an attempt to advance the lie of the noble savage.
