there is that word again TRADITIONS notice something here - the person speaking (Paul) and the words spoken were by a MESSENGER OF GOD - these were truly Gods approved words spoken through HOLY MEN OF GOD (in this case the Paul the Apostle) - when the Apostle here (vs 6 and 7) speaks how ye ought to follow us re: tradition - he is referring to ONLY that which God would approve of - for even these apostles were just human even though they were saints (saints not because they were Apostles but because they were born again); just as when I say something you are to judge it by Gods Word (KJB) and judge it RIGHTLY to see if it lines up with GODS WORD rightly divided (ie: NOT YOUR OR my or someone elses counsel) - also in case you IGNORE every other verse in this passage and jump immediately to and or just CONVENIENTLY forget the WHOLE CHAPTER - I will EXHORT you now take HEED of the WHOLE CHAPTER not just the verses you want re: busy body (vs 11) etc as some do to try to silence the one speaking the TRUTH against EVIL! because that would CONTRADICT what God instructs through the Apostle Paul in vs 15 a few verses down (ADMONISH - REBUKE< REPROVE, EXHORT!) keep this passage here in mind: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. (Eph 2:13-22) Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: (2Th 3:1) And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. (2Th 3:2) But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. (2Th 3:3) And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. (2Th 3:4) And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. (2Th 3:5) Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. (2Th 3:6) For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; (2Th 3:7) Neither did we eat any mans bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: (2Th 3:8) Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. (2Th 3:9) For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. (2Th 3:10) For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. (2Th 3:11) Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. (2Th 3:12) But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. (2Th 3:13) And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. (2Th 3:14) Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. (2Th 3:15) Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. (2Th 3:16) The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. (2Th 3:17) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to the Thessalonians was written from Athens. (2Th 3:18) KJB
