they pick that area because its very hard in all kinds of weather,many years back I was on the Beacons in heat just like this and many of those Rivers on the map had dried up,nearly a full day went by ,you have to be very fit to last some of the training done. its sad that people died ,I also think its sad that those hikers acted the way they did. any one who has ever been to the Beacons ,when its hot you understand the danger of having little or no water ,the place becomes like a oven. never go by the maps for water most those small rivers on them dried up years ago and stayed dry.
