The reason why the Golden Rule is universally honored as the basis of morality, and the reason why it is therefore incorporated into every major religion, is because it is the basis for establishing the trust that cooperation and hence human survival requires. There is a class culture that says to be selfish. And there is a conflicting class culture, enshrined in the Golden Rule, that says to share. ...
