this article points out how the seemingly unintended result of the nypds work stoppage is highlighting the way police are being used as tax agents to bolster the sagging city budget by issuing unnecessary summonses disproportionately in communities of color thus draining those who are already hurting economically to meet the budgetary needs of the city. i think they ought to continue this wonderful holiday from broken windows policing and increase the taxes on the richer neighborhoods. its improving the quality of life for the people most affected by stop and frisk & the inevitable use of excessive force by police when people attempt to resist violations to their human rights which happen every f#$kin day. why are the poor paying a back door tax through being ticketed for ridiculous offenses? why not require the wealthy elites to pay a front door tax instead? those people who zip around in taxis buying prada and having their toenails painted, filling their overflowing closets with more shoes than Imelda Marcos, or spending money on fuel for their private helicopters (i clearly do not know wtf rich people spend money on) they are invading poor neighborhoods, pushing people further out, taking over. make them freaking pay.
