this evening i went to the night bazar in Chiang Mai to find a lady on a stall selling ivory, in Thailand its legal to sell domesticated Asian elephant ivory, not African. it is illegal to bring in african ivory and it is also illegal to sell wild asian ivory. so this is where laundering comes in as well as smuggling, the ivory trade is at its highest in 16 years and the deaths of large bull african elephants cant even be replaced by young because murders at its highest. soon there wont be any left to poach. #saynotoivory #anybodythatbuysintoivoryhasbloodontheirhand #CITES #TRAFFIC #WWF i really could have slapped that women in the face.
