this is WILDLY important: https://adbusters.org/magazine/90/hedges-american-psychosis.html though this article doesnt say anything particularly earth-shattering, it presents our rather dismal state of affairs quite concisely. the celebrity culture is really peripheral in my opinion; it is a tool used to distract us (for example: are you aware of the revolutionary actions presently occurring in the ukraine? nytimes/2013/12/02/world/europe/thousands-of-protesters-in-ukraine-demand-leaders-resignation.html?_r=0). pay especial heed to the mirror it holds up: A furious and sustained backlash by a betrayed and angry populace, one unprepared intellectually, emotionally and psychologically for collapse... - a cesspool quite ripe for totalitarianism. it is interesting to note certain developments since the publishing of this article (june 2010), such as the embarrassment of the NSA by Snowden, the floundered Occupy Movement, and the obvious debt-ceiling crisis of 2011 and beyond. i think it is important for us to recognize the potential end in sight, and by seeing it, we can fight to change it. but i also think were a lazy people; one so hypnotized by consuming that we will exchange any freedom we have left for a bit of magical thinking, a blue pill to mask the truth of the matter. i think revolution is in order, but i am unsure of its manifestation. i am hopeful, but i do not know where to place my hope, and what role i ought to play in bringing change. i welcome discussion.
