this is a cool video of a Ra-5c vigelante taking on fuel from an A-4 skyhawk. this is how the navy and marine corps. still fuel there planes and some helicopters to the present day. this is called probe and drouge. it was invented by the british for inflight refueling. the drouge is the basket on the giving aircraft the probe is the stick that inserts into the drouge. the A4 is carring what is know as a buddy store we still use these. it has the drouge fuel hose and reel assembly along with the fuel tanks that carry the fuel for the receving aircraft. this is an innovate package. today the f/a 18 carries this and refuels other navy planes around the carrier. pretty neat seeing this during the vietnam era.
