this is going to sound dumb but alright but its kind of like the old arsenio hall show was much more a product of its culture in that moment than any other late night talk show at any time. i think having a black host, the tone was different and interesting in a different way in that it was lighter than every other talk show and less formal and as such could handle serious subjects in a way that was direct and honest and not awkward as it would be on any other late night talk show. i will honestly say that i cant understand why it went off the first time or the second time. arsenio had without question the best interviews of any show of that format. it should still be going on right now. its too bad he was behind the times but, frankly, the interviews with suge knight and rick ross (among others) were up there with the ones on the old show. if his show couldve been as culturally relevant as it was back then it couldve lasted. youtube/watch?v=41XA23zXJ9I
