this is great because it is so right on one level and so wrong on another and that pretty much is a accurate reflection of what life is for most of us. I am sorry my friend that I cannot embrace your sense of our total responsibility to treat the disease which was given to us and which we were left to live or die from by those who gave it to us. That said I completely agree that too pout and stamp our feet is a waste of time when the disease is metastasizing everyday and could be arrested if not cured if we take some responsibility for its treatment. My friend and I would like to be friends with this young man it is so important that we heed your call to do what we can do and to hit the singles and pick the low hanging fruit that taking personal responsibility for doing what is in our grasp and we could do for our communities Could you please share some of the concrete ways we can do this Policing our neighborhood trash collection Teaching our children to show respect for themselves by cleaning up their rooms instead of relying on others to do it...yes it begins in the home Learning to be polite to all the people they encounter in their daily lives to include parents and teachers and sisters and brothers.... I hope that whoever hears this young mans words will embrace those truths which he speaks so eloquently about with caution. Act on what you have the strength to tackle and seek help on those things which you would like to address but cannot because of your anger or hatred for what you feel is wounding you. What we experiencing young man in the current racism being pumped into our culture is no joke and it cannot be ignored. I appreciate that it is 2014 and slavery as an officially sanctioned institution is over. Broaden your view a little here my friend and apply your logic for self recovery to other parts of the world and the human experience. Would you give this same counsel to those living in Gaza. Turkey, Syria, Burma and other areas where religious and ethnic and racial hatred have wounded generations who are now trying to move forward addressing the wounds left on their collective souls We share much with these folks and we should not be deceived by the fact that our situation may not yet involve the amount of bloodshed and overt physical violence that we see being applied by governments in those countries. Tell me more about your world view .
