this is my opinion so take it or leave it, PEOPLE THAT PAY TO PLAY SHOWS IS THE REASON MOST UNDERGROUND SCENES ARE DEAD!!! i remember back in the day it was AWSOME to book, promote, and MAKE MONEY off your OWN shows! that prevented alot of halftime artist to not be involved. THEN a few kids whos parents believed in their little venture, or had a job but still lived at home... IE, Mez... was like here club owner take all my money and put me on all the major shows... the owners saw a good opportunity and BAM it became suite and kids all thought that was "paying dues" i remember back in the day when you got on a big show it was cuz you paid dues by DRAWING CROWDS and puttin in real street work, like Psycho Jesus. i used to book shows at art gallerys, small venues, and other oddball places and eventually SOLD THEM OUT and MADE a good grip of money for a dope afterparty and to further myself by putting that money into samplers and shit.... point of all this is.. artist that are doin indi shows and tours i commend you your actually doing it right... artist that PAY to play shows, why not just wait put on your own shows and when the time is right you will play bigger shows... STOP KILLING THE INDI SCENE AND ACTUALLY BE INDEPENDENT! god damnit
