this is starting soon, and Ill be there... why, you ask? For me, Art Battle is a breath of fresh air... its something fun that comes to town once a month, that I dont have to plan or worry about! But its not w/o controversy here in the pTown, as more defensive types react to the name, the concept, the whatever... to which I say: get over it... Art Battle is basically five people and an idea -its simple; formulaic even, thanks to Christopher Pemberton, organizer, says Jamil Keyani, MC, brought here by his fiancee Amalia Maria, a Trent University History grad (represent!), with the oversight of it all by Simon Plashkes, and Lindsay girl Morgan Booth on the social media & artist recruiting. Five really nice people, and a really fun idea. So what Im saying Peterborough, is that of all the weird and wonderful spectacles artists are asked to give themselves in sacrifice to, this one is fun! Like blowing off steam, like a slam, or a jam, or whatever you want to call it when a bunch of people who love the same creative medium of expression get together to improv and share. Its really really great, and I heartily endorse it, as fun for one and all... kids included. Also, the five people mentioned above, are flying all over this country putting on these events, that galvanize artists, inspire production, and celebrate the medium. Dont let the name fool you, it may be a battle, but its all about love. And youll probably like it if you go. Hope to see you at The Venue Peterborough tonight. Painting starts at 8!
