David was a man after God’s heart not because he was perfect but because of his humility and broken spirit. Here is his confession after his affairs with Beersheba: “for I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is always before me.” Psalm 51:3 David further said to the Lord, “For you do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give; you do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, these, O God, you will not despise.” (Psalm 51:16-17). A man who will earn the favour of God must be humble and broken. “Before honour is humility.” (Proverbs 15:33(b) Humility is also the ability to say SORRY, not only to God but also to man, especially when you are wrong. Cultivate humility and see how far you will go in life.
