this isnt council tax related but i cant find a group for it..can anyone help? we were on hoilday at bewick sea front and there was no signs what so ever to say we cannot park there.. all cars parked got a ticket..was thinking no contact now..any ideas..ta You were given a PCN for parking on a pavement. Pavement parking is not allowed unless signs say otherwise. This rule is enforced because vehicles can damage verges, paving or underground pipes and can get in the way of pedestrians, especially blind people or people with prams. The area you parked in is governed by a double yellow line. The double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time; all days and at all times and no warning signs or communication regarding the restriction is necessary. Please refer to the Department for Transport ‘The Official Highway Code’. The restriction itself is in operation from the centre of the highway to the back of the footpath, therefore anyone parking within that area is liable to a PCN. The area has dropped kerb access to it and is officially classed as a pavement as it has a kerb up to it. This type of restriction does not require signage of any description (as stated by the Department for Transport) because the Highway Code dictates that where you see a Double Yellow line it means No Waiting at Any Time.
