this makes me so sad .... we are all diminished when a police officer is killed. it means that someone has lost their respect for humanity which puts us all at risk, and it means that we have lost someone who is willing to go out every day and stand up for us and our safety. there has to be a way to prevent this current polarizing crisis we are facing from dividing us beyond the point of no return. we have to prevent ourselves from being manipulated along racial lines, along power and class lines, along political lines. we need brave people to stand for us and maintain our system of law and order ... we need them to be diverse, intelligent, well trained and highly functioning and working for the good of all in society. and we need to support them to do their job and appreciate them for the courage that it takes to do this. we need to work together to find solutions to this current crisis, which first and foremost involves listening. no solutions will ever come from talking at each other.
