this post is only for folks my age- 62- and probably only for those who lived within in range it was believed- of cuban-russian missiles a long time ago in a far away place- i was a very impressionable 9 year old living outside of atlanta- which was a small city back then- running into the guard practicing on a scout camping trip was scary enough- the noon wednesday day sirens- by then i lived in illinois so they were for tornado warnings- freaked me out for another decade- when at college in urbana i biked more than i attended classes- and everytime i heard the sirens i would head to a ditch- that was about when i knew i would come back to wv- herb
