threatening tweets Just one day after Giants running back Brandon Jacobs received death threats on Twitter, a man from Connecticut was arrested for threatening members of the Mets organization. NBC Connecticut reported 42-year-old Aryn Leroux, a West Haven, Conn. resident, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with threatening in the second degree and breach of peace. Hes accused of tweeting threats toward executives, players and coaches of the New York Mets, along with a specific threat to Citi Field, police said. Writer Rich MacLeod reported Lerouxs account was @danXtanna (which has since disappeared) and didnt specify the nature of the threats. But thats the same handle Kristie Ackert of The Daily News found Leroux was using. A source told her the Mets alerted MLB security around Sept. 13, after Leroux suggested on twitter Mets fans should act like slasher Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th movies, mentioning the Mets manager, owner and GM. LaTroy Hawkins, who was one of the Mets players threatened along with infielder Justin Turner, told Ackert Its good. You cant go around making threats on Twitter and hide. I understand fans being upset but you cannot threaten peoples lives. and mentioned the threat was to blow us up, he had a whole elaborate scheme. According to site Tweetwood, which tracks celebrities on Twitter, Hawkins called for his followers to Block and REPORT as spam and Shut him up for awhile @danxtanna he want to do bodily harm to our team. That tweet was sent four months ago.
