Tellu Siattinge English as a global language and knowledge had become a necessity in a number of jobs and professions such as medicine and hospitality and others. For this reason, the Indonesian government has decided that, English is the first foreign language taught in Indonesia as a compulsory subject in junior high and senior high school. English as a local content and as an elective subject in school functions as a means of physical, mental, and social for young learners. The learners to become skilled or have the basic knowledge to communicate in English such as speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Proverb is figurative language, the language used to create certain effects. maxim has a beauty of its own language, because it is the researcher was interested to study proverbs. as the saying is the style of language in spoken and written forms used in an essay that aims to represent the feelings and thoughts of the author. From the beauty of the style that is used, the figure of speech is a form of an expression of the feelings of the author. Besides, we also need to understand about the proverb, as the proverb comprehension, for example searching for maxim personification of a sentence that sounds strange. Because this figure of speech, a shift in meaning can we put in the form of figure of speech penginsanan. In addition to the figure of speech personification, we know the proverb metaphor. To clarify and reinforce the statement, speakers make a comparison between what is meant by objects or other goods. Proverb contains system-related cultural values, norms, rules, and outlook on life is the reference for community members. Proverb often used in everyday conversation, ceremonies, celebrations, and so on. Proverb is one means of enculturation in the process of planting traditional values from generation to generation within the Malay culture.
