to my animal friends iv had this email from a so called human being please read it Tim Kreitz Naturally, I respectfully disagree. In order for a creature to have rights, it must have the ability to reason, and must likewise be able to take responsibility for its reasoning and actions. Animals cannot do that, therefore they have no rights. I would urge you to reexamine your definition of rights, as the one you are using is illogical. From the practical and logistical standpoint, animals murder and eat each other all the time. How do you enforce the so-called rights of one animal against another? Do we kill all the lions that hunt and eat gazelles? Do we kill the wolves that hunt and eat rabbits? Your reasoning for animals rights becomes more and more fallacious each time it is applied to reality. Equating humankind as no more divine than animals isnt raising nature, but lowering humankind. I disagree with such pantheistic thinking. To paraphrase Shulman, those people among us who would give human rights to animals do not do it because they love animals. They do it because they hate humankind. They hate the fact that their own superior nature as intellectual beings gives them superior challenges which they shrink from by attempting to deny the superiority of their human nature. mises.org/rothbard/ethics/twentyone.asp The Ethics of Liberty by Murray N. Rothbard mises.org IT HAS LATELY BECOME a growing fashion to extend the concept of rights from human beings to animals, and to assert that since animals have the full rights of humans, it is therefore impermissible—i.e., that no man has the right—to kill or eat them.
